Bright Light Scholarship
Application
Information

Purpose
The primary goal of the Nuñez Foundation’s scholarship program is to award
scholarships to graduating seniors of Aurora high schools wishing to continue their
education. Each year the Foundation expects to award new scholarships in the
amount of $1,500. These scholarships may be renewable each year. Applicants
should have successfully overcome personal challenges and have demonstrated
commitment to additional education.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a Nuñez Foundation scholarship, each applicant must:
• Be a Colorado resident
• Be a graduating student of an Aurora high school (from Aurora Public
Schools, Cherry Creek Public Schools, or any Aurora private school)
• Be accepted to an accredited college (including technical colleges) at the time
the funds are allocated
• Have a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA
• Meet the financial needs requirement

Selection
Applications of students who meet the above requirements will be reviewed by a Nuñez
Foundation committee and may be contacted for an interview.
Recommendation for a scholarship is based on the following:
• Dedication to obtaining an education
• Personal qualities, strengths and demonstrated goal achievement
• Letters of recommendation on official letterhead
• Extraordinary ability to overcome challenges
• Essay content and style
• Ability to communicate effectively as demonstrated in interview session
